Thanks to the generous support of Friends like you, we have contributed nearly $1 million towards many innovative programs that have made a difference in the lives of countless children, youth, their families, and their communities. Your continued support will ensure that we can continue to deliver, support, and enable quality programming for those in need.

So, on behalf of the children who, without our nutrition programs, would’ve had to go to school hungry every day…

On behalf of the parents who, without our summer day camps, would’ve had to give up one or more jobs — jobs that they can’t afford to give up — in order to look after their children…

On behalf of the LGBTQ youth who, without our scholarships, would’ve had to give up their dreams of attending college or university because they couldn’t afford it…

If your workplace participates in the United Way payroll deduction charitable donation program, you can designate Friends of Community Schools as the recipient of your donations!

How Far Will Your Donation Go?

To give you a better sense of how you can help:

• A donation of $60 will ensure that a child attending our camp has a hot and healthy lunch for 2 weeks, and
• $210 will provide a child with lunch for the entire summer!

Your donation of any amount, large or small, is greatly appreciated and will go a long way towards helping us make a difference, and for increasing the chances for success in life for some of the most marginalized children and youth.

Making Your Donation Count

A principal motivation for the establishment of Friends of Community Schools was to eliminate the need for intermediary organizations — and the bureaucracy and financial inefficiency that they bring — thereby allowing the maximum possible amount of donated funds and items to go directly towards helping children and youth in need.

To this day, we are committed to utilizing your contributions in the most responsible and efficient manner possible. All our board members, including officer positions, are volunteers, and we do our utmost to keep administrative expenses to a minimum. This allows us to ensure that approximately 95% of the contributions we receive are used to directly support our programs.

Tax Information

Friends of Community Schools is a registered charity: Registration No. 89282 7767 RR0001. Tax receipts will be issued for all donations over $10. In compliance with CRA regulations, the value of any tangible advantage must be deducted from your receipt, if applicable.
